About this place
When the paella pan arrives, the aroma of fresh seafood and the fragrant socarrat crusted along the edge immediately whet the appetite. Situated on the 1st floor of Garden City Shinagawa Gotenyama in Kita-Shinagawa, givet Beercafe & Bistro is a Spanish bistro centered around carefully simmered paellas and draft craft beers from Japan and abroad. The classic seafood paella allows the broth from prawns and shellfish to soak deep into every grain, while the squid ink paella delivers rich savoriness alongside a satisfying al dente bite. Because paella takes time to cook, placing the order early in the meal ensures smooth service.
While waiting for the main dish to finish, lingering over small plates of tapas with a drink is the quintessential way to spend time here. Piped onto raisin bread, the white chicken liver mousse features a texture as silky as dessert, free of gaminess and rich in subtle savoriness. Iberico ham freshly sliced from the bone in front of the table and tender tortilla scented with Gorgonzola cheese round out a well-balanced lineup that naturally calls for another pour.
The beverage lineup features an array of craft beers, spanning fruity wheat beers and bitter IPAs to full-bodied stouts. Tasting flights with smaller pours allow guests to compare differing bitterness and aromatic profiles until settling on their preferred glass. Beyond beer, Spanish sherries, wines, and digestifs are readily available to match whatever dish is on the table.
The dining room features high ceilings and an airy sense of space, offering both standard tables and private rooms partitioned by curtains. Free shuttle buses connect Shinagawa and Gotanda stations to the building, making the trip into Gotenyama straightforward despite the distance from the station. It is a welcoming setting for unwinding with craft beer and well-crafted dishes late into the evening.
